UNDERSTANDING THE GOAL

The goal was to create a self-service platform which would allow external advertisers to create and maintain their own campaigns, rather than having to rely on ADARA’s internal advertising managers. I worked closely with project managers and front-end engineers in charge of various features of the platform to figure out the platform’s requirements and to implement my designs.

CHALLENGE

The biggest challenge I faced was to figure out how to design an enterprise platform for a highly specialized user base. Campaign managers and advertisers like to be able to monitor many metrics at once and make bulk edits on the platform, which meant I had to use as much real estate as possible in my design.  This platform would also never be used on mobile, so I learned how to design for desktop only.

Given that this was my first job out of college, I asked for tons of feedback from my colleagues and learned from their experience working with data platforms. I also took inspiration from existing platforms such as Google's AdSense and Facebook's advertising platform. Visually, I tried to keep my design consistent with the company's brand identity, and kept the platform as clutter-free as possible even with the large amount of information that had to be displayed.

WHAT I DID

I began initially as an intern at ADARA and was later promoted to a UI/UX designer to help launch the company’s enterprise B2B platform. I worked closely with the product team and helped convert product requirements into mockups for the engineering team to implement. My scope of work included creating wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, iconography, visual design, and maintaining a UI asset library.
